October – the cybersecurity awareness month

Every year in October we celebrate the cyber security awareness month to talk, understand, discuss and resolve the security threats that our cyber world is facing as we evolve. The cyber security month theme for the year 2021 is “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.”

How is the cyber security awareness month relevant?

Do you know that people spend an average of about 59 hours per week on the internet? The world is moving towards a technologically interconnected, technically driven way of life. The more you use technology, the easier life becomes. But on the flip side, this also leaves room for a lot of new threats in cyber security. Every year more and more threats like phishing attacks, Malware, Ransomeware, IoT attacks, Hacking, cloud threats, compromised data and privacy etc. are being reported from across the world.

What can be done during the cyber security awareness month?

Use the cyber security awareness month to

  • Educate yourself and your employees on ways to stay secure even while they are off the secure office environment
  • Take proactive steps in sealing any security loopholes within your system. (Cyberintelsys is all equipped and ready help with all the necessary tools and solutions if cyber security makes you jittery.)
  • Have a response plan ready in case of an attack. Prevention along with a resilient back up plan can go a long way in securing your enterprise from the cyber attacks.
  • Follow the websites of your country’s official cyber security agencies. Stay informed through the resources and workshops held in connection with the awareness month.
  • Spread the word. Share what you learned and help your connections to stay updated too. You can use the theme hashtag #BeCyberSmart through your social media handles to raise awareness.

It should not take a special month in order to seal and secure your vulnerabilities in the cyber space, don’t you think?

But the awareness month is definitely an opportunity to improve and reinforce your security over the technological channels that we use. Let us be secure, let us be safe. Happy and safe cyber security month to all.
